This final event started off as a real nail biter but, like so many of the competitions this year, turned out to be a little less thrilling than I expected it to be.

And just like that we're already in the second half of the Grand Prix season.  NHK Trophy is always a big deal because Japan is where figure skating is the most popular.  It's the most exciting place to skate and, thankfully, NHK didn't disappoint this year...at least not too much.

I spent nearly my entire weekend watching skating and I have to say I enjoyed all of it!  Men, pairs, ice dance and, of course, the ladies...it was an excellent competition across the board.  As always, I have to take a look back at the ladies and give my thoughts on this Olympic season Grand Prix opener.

So I said I wasn't going post until after Skate America, but what they heck, I'll do a preview.  Why? 'Cause it's Friday and I'm bored as hell at work...

2011 Nebelhorn Trophy: Ladies Review

Just a quick post here.  If I find some videos I'll make sure to post them, but as of right now the ladies have skated their SPs and, YAY!, my girl is on top!  Mirai Nagasu easily won the segment with a score of 58.38, nearly 8 points higher than Elene Gedevanishvilli who is in 2nd place with 50.56.  Sarah Hecken is in 3rd with 49.07.  It appears as though Ksenia Makarova had some trouble; she's in 6th place with 45.95.

Unless Mirai has an implosion of epic proportions, she should easily win this competition tomorrow...

As expected, Mirai Nagasu won Nebelhorn Trophy...
